Manchester United made it two wins out of two despite once again being largely unconvincing, with Adnan Januzaj grabbing the only goal after a well-worked move.
Another talking point from the match was a penalty incident involving Matteo Darmian, when he seemingly pulled Micah Richards down in the box and was lucky not to give away a penalty.
After the game, Richards spoke to the media and claimed that the United right-back labeled him ‘soft’.
When asked about the penalty incident, Richards replied “Darmian said I am too soft.”
This is great. Matteo Darmian is a solid 7/10 player week-in week-out, and he takes absolutely no nonsense. At united we haven’t had a right-back who knows how to defend properly since Gary Neville, and Darmian could well turn out to be one of the bargains of the summer.
Hopefully he can keep himself fit, get a regular starting berth and keep Antonio Valencia on the bench for the foreseeable future.
