Memphis Depay reveals why he’s struggling at Manchester United

Big things were expected of Memphis Depay upon his arrival at Manchester United this summer, and he has certainly delivered that on the European stage. However domestically he has struggled largely, and has spoken to the press and explained the reasons why.

“In Manchester I play a lot of games. There are very few days that I can rest out,” he said.

“On training days you are mainly concerned with conditioning. It’s heavy, two games a week, always at a high level. Because of that, my body still has to get used to it all. I’m trying in my career to take many steps. I think this was the right step, and I’m happy in Manchester.”

With him being young you always expected that it’d take him some time to adapt to the Manchester lifestyle and the pace of the Premier League. Despite that though, Louis van Gaal has continued to including him in the starting line-up, as he clearly has plenty of faith in the 21-year old.
