Manchester United’s biggest game of the season is now just on the horizon. Jose Mourinho takes his men down the M62 to take on our fiercest of rivals, Liverpool.
Ahead of that game, the excitement is building. It’s an opportunity for the Red Devils to send out a marker to the rest of the Premier League, particularly if they can go to Anfield and take all three points.
Sky Sports News’ Paul Merson has predicted a 1-1 draw as a full-time result when making his predictions, whilst also adding it’ll be a big game for one player in particular; Romelu Lukaku.
“It will be interesting to see how United approach it. You would like to think, with the squad and firepower they have got, that they will have a go. But we have said that before and they have parked the bus, so we will have to see what happens. It’s a big game for Romelu Lukaku. Now he is with one of the big boys he has to perform against the big boys.” Merson wrote in his Sky Sports News predictions blog.
“Manchester United are a better team but Liverpool’s home advantage should help them get a draw.”
Our new striking sensation has been superb at the start of his Manchester United career. Now, it’s time for him to kick it up a notch. Liverpool away is a notoriously tricky fixture, and these are the types of matches where the 24-year-old simply has to be that difference-maker.
Manager Mourinho clearly has the faith in him to do so, because he wouldn’t have sanctioned such a huge transfer fee otherwise. It’s going to be an intriguing match-up, that’s for sure. If there is any game I’d love to win, it’s Liverpool away. Can we do it? I believe so, but we have to go out there and attack.
