Michael Owen hits back at Man United fans over Rashford injury comments

Manchester United’s game against Liverpool turned out to be a rather dull affair, which is strangely unlike games between these two sides.

That can probably be put down to injuries being suffered by both sides, as it severely disrupted the flow of the game. Marcus Rashford showed his true mettle by staying on the field while carrying a knock. Credit to him, he finished the 90 minutes despite playing on one leg for the majority.

At half-time, though, Michael Owen openly said that if he were playing he’d target Rashford’s sore ankle in order to get him out of the game. Obviously, that didn’t go down too well with United fans.

Today, the ex-United and Liverpool man took to Twitter to hit back at the angry Red Devils, while also reminding us that he’s (unfortunately) employed to give his god-awful opinion…

Now, we have to remember that this is a bloke who has an article written about him dedicated to his brilliantly awful quotes, so you have to take everything he says with a pinch of salt.

I’ll reiterate what i said yesterday, though. This is coming from a bloke who was made of glass and was plagued by injuries throughout his career. You’d expect to see a bit more class, particularly as he played for United – and won his only Premier League trophy here.

Ah well, I guess he’s still a scouser at heart and he’s just as bad as the rest of them…
