After successive loan spells in the Championship with Leicester and Derby, Michael Keane returns to Manchester United in the hunt for a first-team spot on a regular basis. The young centre-back certainly impressed in the lower division, especially with Leicester last season.
The 21-year old’s chance could come as early as this season after injuries to both Phil Jones and Jonny Evans occurred in the 2-1 defeat away to Stoke at the weekend, and Michael Keane must make sure that when he gets that chance, he takes it.
The youngster said:
“All I can do is train in front of the manager every day and show what I can do. I need to keep playing like I have done on Monday and go in every day to impress him. Hopefully, I can get my chance.”
With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic both set to leave United at the end of the season, Keane must continue to impress David Moyes. United would rather promote from within than go spending big money on replacements, and the centre-back could be the next big thing to come out of our academy if he continues to progress.
