Nemanja Matic wants to force through a move to Manchester United, after Chelsea secured a deal to bring Tiemoue Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge. That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim talks have taken place, and the player hopes a resolution can be found over the weekend.
However, Jose Mourinho and the Red Devils won’t have it all their own way regarding the 28-year-old Serb, with Inter Milan also keen on his services; although they may fail to wage his wage demands.
The report also claims that United would be prepared to offer Matic a longer deal, whereas Chelsea would only be willing to offer him a two-year extension – at which point he’ll be over 30.
At first, I wasn’t excited by the prospect of signing Matic, but now, you do understand why a deal would make sense. He’d bring an awful lot of experience to the table and he’s a win at all costs type of guy. That’s why Mourinho absolutely loves him, and the gaffer knows he can trust the holding midfielder.
I just cannot imagine Chelsea wanting to sell one of their stars directly to a Premier League rival, and first and foremost they’d probably much prefer to ship him off abroad.
