Mourinho explains why he’s happy Man United play Tuesday, fires warning to players

Pressure? What pressure… Jose Mourinho looked as calm as ever following the horrific Manchester United loss on Saturday lunchtime, away to West Ham United.

The Red Devils looked nothing short of atrocious. In every department, United were second best and that was truly disappointing. Perhaps the huge player vs manager battle that is unfolding is a huge distraction, while simply put, some of the guys that took to the field just didn’t look good enough.

Anyway, the self-proclaimed Special One is trying to remain upbeat, as he looks to get his players prepared for a huge Champions League game at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Valencia CF come to town, with Mourinho happy that he can get back to the training field and prepare for this clash – while also dropping a subtle warning about players having the same mentality that he does…

‘For myself, speaking of my own feelings, I am really happy that we have a game on Tuesday,’ he said, per The Metro.

‘I am really happy that I now start immediately thinking about training tomorrow and about the match on Tuesday.’

‘I prefer that to only playing next Saturday, with one week of these bad feelings. ‘I look forward to that match on Tuesday and I hope the majority of the players have this same kind of mentality, and that they are looking forward to Tuesday. ‘I have no complaints with the players’ attitude.’

I guess the good thing is the fact that there is a quick turnaround, we can look to put the awful 3-1 defeat behind us pretty quickly. Hopefully, we go back to a formation that we’re more familiar with during this one, because the switch to a five-at-the-back just didn’t work.

Make no mistake about it, Valencia will be coming to Old Trafford looking for all three points. The Spanish side lost their opening game, they’ll be looking to get on the board in this one.

This game could be telling. If the squad aren’t playing for him, and the performance is as bad as last time out, the pressure will begin to mount on Edward Woodward to look at pulling the trigger. With an international break coming up, now could well be the time…
