Credit where it’s due, Odion Ighalo has done far better than all of us would ever have hoped.
The Nigerian has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford, though question marks about his long-term fit, largely due to his age, remain.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opting to make this United squad younger where possible, it seems only logical that the Reds will continue that trend in the hunt for a new forward; enter Moussa Dembele.
This isn’t the first time United have been linked with a move for the Frenchman, though according to the Manchester Evening News, the prolific 23-year-old is under transfer consideration by United.
What’s interesting to me is that the story claims Dembele would find it hard to reject a Reds move this summer – should the opportunity arise.
Dembele has scored bucket-loads of goals wherever he has played his football, gradually taking it up a notch each time. Now playing his football at Lyon, the striker had hit 22 strikes in all competitions before play was halted.
There’s no doubt in my mind that Dembele would be the perfect option for United. He offers something different to what his compatriot Anthony Martial brings to the table, which is why I think Ighalo has been a roaring success during his short-spell here. Why not continue that trend, but by adding someone younger as opposed to Ighalo, who is past his peak…
