Manchester United Football Club have always been known for producing their own talents and letting those youngsters play at the highest level. One of our most recent academy graduates is Jesse Lingard, the Warrington-born winger who scored that stunning goal to win us the FA Cup final last year.
The 24-year-old is out of contract next summer, and now Lingard himself has confirmed that talks about a new deal are still ongoing. He reiterated his desire to play at this great football club going forward, as he said ‘my heart is at Man United’.
“The contract is still ongoing with talks at the moment,” Sky Sports quote Lingard as saying. “I enjoy playing for Man United and my heart is at Man United.”
“There’s a lot of competition for places but I think that’s good for the group. It’s always good to have great players around you.”
At the end of the day, it’s always that bit more special when a homegrown player is performing for Manchester United. That’s the case with Jesse Lingard here. The Englishman always puts in a shift when he’s been given the opportunity, and more often than not he plays well.
Take the last game against Middlesbrough for example. He scored a truly wonderful goal that helped us claim all three points, and his performance as a whole in that match was an extremely positive one.
This season, Lingard has played fifteen times in all competitions, scoring twice, including a goal against Southampton in the EFL Cup final.
