Manchester United’s inconsistent winger Nani could be used as part of a deal to land Juventus’ midfield enforcer Arturo Vidal, according to the Manchester Evening News. Louis van Gaal is an admirer of Vidal, but contact is yet to be made regarding the 27-year old midfield maestro.
A large list of departures are expected this summer, and Nani is thought to be high on that list along with the likes of Javier Hernandez and Wilfried Zaha. If we can somehow negotiate him into the deal to bring Vidal to Old Trafford, it’ll be like killing two birds with one stone, and shifting his high wages off the books would be an achievement in itself.
Despite being one of the key figures in the 19th title-winning season, Nani hasn’t performed at the highest level anywhere near often enough. Injury also hampered his game last season, limiting to just thirteen appearances in all competitions.
Bringing Vidal in is so important. If we can lure a player of his calibre to Old Trafford without Champions League football on offer, it shows exactly what an attractive proposition Manchester United are. He’d work wonders in the Premier League, and alongside Ander Herrera that’d be a midfield to be fearful of for opposition players.
