Newcastle At Home In The Capital One Cup

The third round draw for the newly-named Capital One Cup took place last night, and we’ve been handed a home draw against Newcastle United. The Toon have flourished since Alan Pardew has taken over as manager, this has largely been because of the big impact his signings have made.

There seems to be this unwritten rule with this cup, near enough every side plays their second string team to avoid risk of injury to their star names, and most importantly, it allows the youngsters to have a taste of competitive football. With the strength in depth our squad now has, our starting XI vs. Newcastle should be a good mix of youth and experience alike, giving us a great chance to go a long way in this years tournament.

I understand the fact that fans don’t want to splash out £40 on a cold night in winter to watch a second string United side, though I expect the game against Newcastle to be quite an open one, it should be a very good game.

The tie will be played during the week commencing September 24th.
