Manchester United’s odds at signing Alexis Sanchez this January have drastically shortened, according to The Sun.
Sun Bets say that the Red Devils have moved into 5/2 to sign the Chile star, following reports suggesting that the 29-year-old is being targeted by Jose Mourinho, who is looking to swoop Sanchez from under Pep Guardiola’s nose.
Sun Bets spokesman Tim Reynolds said: “It’s been seen as a foregone conclusion that Alexis Sanchez would be in a Man City shirt in the near future.”
“The only question was whether he would put pen to paper in the January transfer window or if it would be completed next summer.
“But in true Jose Mourinho fashion – the Special One has thrown a spanner in the works.
“City may be walking away with the title, but the capture of Sanchez could be the best way for the Red Devils to get one over their rivals.”
It would be truly sensational if Mourinho could pull this one off. Sanchez is up there amongst the best players in the world, and he could well be that spark we’ve been missing in the final third.
In my opinion, he will leave Arsenal either during this transfer window or over the summer, and offering The Gunners a huge sum of money could well tempt them into parting with Sanchez now, rather than losing him for free.
United’s attacking options are good, but I still feel they are one player short in that area of the field. Bringing in Sanchez would be brilliant for the fans, and you get the feeling that he’d be a real lift for all involved.
Sanchez playing alongside the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Romelu Lukaku is certainly a mouthwatering proposition, I just hope United haven’t left it too late to make their move for him.
