Manchester United’s season is all said and done, and what a memorable one it was for us Red Devils fans. Jose Mourinho’s side scooped up two trophies in his debut season leading the side, and also, we now have Champions League football to look forward to.
Just a couple of days after the Europa League final, Manchester United have announced an astute bit of business, with Antonio Valencia extending his contract at the Theatre of Dreams.
The 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2019, with the option for a further twelve months if all parties agree.
Honestly, this man just amazes me. He’s transformed his game from a right-wing role to a fullback position almost seamlessly, and his new position suits him down to a tee.
Valencia is just an incredible machine who absolutely adores this club and the job he does. I’m hard-pressed to find a better right-back than him in world football, let alone the Premier League. That tells you all you need to know about just how good of a year he has had.
To have him for at least the next couple of seasons means that place in the team is locked down and it gives Mourinho one less area of the field to worry about.
