Manchester United have confirmed that 17-year-old midfielder, Aliou Traore, has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The former Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate, who only signed for the Red Devils a month ago, has already been handed a pro deal after impressing coaches at Old Trafford, including Class of 92 member, Nicky Butt.
Upon Traore signing his deal, Butt said:
“Aliou is a tremendously gifted young player and we are all delighted to see him sign his first professional contract at Manchester United.
“Aliou will naturally need time to adapt, but he has an exciting future ahead of him and we are all looking forward to seeing his performances for the Under-18s in the second half of this season.”
To award a player a deal so quickly after his arrival tells me one thing; that this kid is incredibly talented, and he has the potential to go an awfully long way in this game. Traore is quick, strong and deadly when he gets an opportunity, and I’m salivating at the prospect of him lining up alongside Angel Gomes for the U18s.
It’s now up to the player to continue working hard on the training ground, and no doubt Mourinho will be keeping a watchful eye on Traore. Who knows, we could see him in action towards the end of the season if the Premier League title is wrapped up early. Cast your mind back to last term when the aforementioned Gomes earned his debut over the final round of Premier League fixtures.
