Manchester United’s summer overhaul looks set to continue, and next up on the list of likely candidates to leave is Patrice Evra – who’s contract expires in June. If he does leave, which due to some bad performances is looking quite likely, he’ll be following fellow defenders Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand out of the exit door.
According to the Guardian, Patrice Evra hasn’t made a final decision on his future yet, but if he does leave the most likely option for him is his old side Monaco. Patrice Evra has been one of the best left-backs this club has ever seen, and in my eyes he’ll go down as a legend. He’s one of the few players that ‘gets’ United, and albeit he’s had a bad start to this campaign, he always puts 110% in every week for the United cause.
Possible replacements include Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao, Luke Shaw from Southampton and David Moyes’ former player at Everton; Leighton Baines. Reports suggest that a loan deal is close for Coentrao, meaning that Moyes has probably lost faith in Evra already.
It would’ve been nice to get a fee for Evra, but alongside Vidic and Ferdinand, it will free up a lot of wages to bring in new players and allowing Moyes to build his own side.
