Manchester United Football Club have a massive squad at their disposal, and at this point in time, Jose Mourinho is utilising it excellently. However, one man who hasn’t featured at all is Bastian Schweinsteiger – the influential German clearly hasn’t been fancied all that much by the manager.
Recently, though, it seems things have changed somewhat, and Jose has changed his mind regarding the veteran midfielder. ‘Schweini’ has been included in United’s Europa League squad list, and has even been handed a couple of substitute appearances.
Now Paul Scholes has had his say on the situation, and he has high praise for the midfield maestro, claiming it ‘remarkable’ how professional he has been throughout the whole situation. That was before the Ginger Prince said he hopes Mourinho gives him a chance.
“It’s strange to hear about Jose Mourinho and Schweinsteiger but I find it remarkable how highly professional Bastian has responded by simply working without complaining.” Paul Scholes reportedly told Kicker, translated by Squawka.
“Schweinsteiger can still control a game if you let him, and I hope the manager lets him. The fans love Bastian; he’s a very special player.”
At the end of the day, Bastian Schweinsteiger just gives us another option in a key area of the field, and that cannot hurt Manchester United at all. We all know his qualities, and on his day he can boss a match almost single-handedly.
I love him as a player, and was thrilled when he moved to the club. Now, it’s time for Jose to show a little faith and give him a real shot – even if it’s in the cup games.
