Manchester United are pushing hard to sign Harry Maguire, that’s no secret whatsoever.
So far, the Red Devils have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of the one they call ‘slabhead’…
It seems as though United are leaving no stone unturned as they try to acquire a new centre-back before the season starts. Now, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add a player to the deal.
The story comes from the Daily Telegraph, who state that 27-year-old Phil Jones has been touted as a potential makeweight in the deal to acquire Maguire.
Apparently, the Baby Faced Assassin will also listen to offers for Marcos Rojo, while Eric Bailly has also been linked with a move away from the Theatre of Dreams – as Solskjaer looks to create space for Maguire should the move go through.
For Leicester City, I’m fairly certain they’d prefer straight-up cash as let’s be honest, Jones is a liability and I’d doubt that any top-flight side would want to sign him.
United do need to thin their defensive options though. They have Jones, Bailly, Rojo, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Axel Tuanzebe. If they add Maguire they would have seven centre-backs for just two positions. That’s probably one or two too many…
