Manchester United Football Club have always had a way when it comes to developing and harnessing youngsters. Why shouldn’t that continue?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer placed faith in several United academy products over the summer and at the start of this season. It’s great to see homegrown boys in action – and I can’t wait to watch these guys progress.
Anyway, one man who has turned into somewhat a forgotten figure at Old Trafford is Timothy Fosu-Mensah. After making a bright start to life at United under Louis van Gaal, things quickly fizzled out for the Dutchman under Jose Mourinho.
Injuries didn’t help the situation, as various loan moves failed. Well now, the 21-year-old United starlet has been spotted back in training for the first time in five months following injury.
It’s easy to forget how talented Fosu-Mensah is, and despite the fact that he’s had no pre-season whatsoever, this is a young man who could make an impact in a real area of need for Solskjaer.
Sure, it’ll take him time to get back up to speed. Perhaps we won’t see him on a football field until the new year, but it’s nice to know he’s still a Red.
I look towards cup competitions as his big chance, but I genuinely wouldn’t bet against Fosu-Mensah staking a first-team place before this season comes to a conclusion.
