Picture: Adidas’ website could have just leaked Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s new Man United shirt number

manchester United Football Club have made some excellent signings this transfer window, with Jose Mourinho adding firepower with Romelu Lukaku and a bit of steel in the form of Nemanja Matic. However, earlier on in the week, talk of a sensational Zlatan Ibrahimovic return came to the fore.

Just days after the aforementioned story broke, Adidas’ US site have Ibrahimovic jerseys for sale, with the number ten on the back…

Now, either Adidas know something we don’t – which is likely given that they are the Red Devils’ kit manufacturer, or, they’ve just not updated the website in a while. Alongside Ibrahimovic’s jersey is Rooney’s number, too. However, surely, if the website is out of date, Zlatan would still have the #9 which he wore last season?

To me, it seems like more than just a coincidence and Adidas could know something that we don’t. I certainly get the impression that the big man will be rejoining the club in the not too distant future – and giving him a new number makes a whole lot of sense.

I cannot see Jose Mourinho spending big money on Romelu Lukaku for his number to get taken away from him. We’ll just have to see how this one plays out, but what a sensational bit of business this would be if the rumours turn out to be true.
