Manchester United had a sensational February, and thankfully, March has started in a similar style.
Throughout February, the Red Devils continued their unbeaten Premier League run, while also progressing into the FA Cup quarter-final. The real driving force behind that? Ander Herrera.
Rightfully, the Basque-born midfielder scooped United’s February Player of the Month award, and shortly after, he took to Twitter to send a message of thanks to the fans.
After scoring the opening goal against Chelsea, while putting in a Man of the Match performance along the way, Herrera became the key man due to his passion, aggression and energy.
It’s just a shame his month was cut short due to injury, but hopefully, he’ll be back in action in the not too distant future as we’ll certainly need him for the run-in.
As the race for a top-four finish heats up, players like Herrera can be the difference-makers. He can get everyone fired up, he makes everyone around him play better. We’re lucky to call him ours.
There is a slight concern that he’s still to commit to a new long-term deal at the Theatre of Dreams, but hopefully, the board can get him to sign before this season’s end.
