Manchester United’s shining light in a poor season was none other than Spain keeper David de Gea, and last night the 23-year old was duly rewarded for his excellent performances. He came on for Iker Casillas as a second half substitute last night to make his full Spain debut.
It seems a long time ago when David first came to England and struggled with the physicality of the Premier League – but my how things have changed. In my opinion he’s now up there with the best keepers in the league alongside Petr Cech and Joe Hart, and at 23 he has an awful lot of improving to do.
Sadly he probably won’t get any minutes in the World Cup, due to being third choice keeper at the moment. I know I’m biased but for me he’s the best keeper Spain have, and by quite some distance too.
