Manchester United and David de Gea have been a match made in heaven for over five years now.
The Red Devils nurtured and harnessed the Spaniard’s young talents, developing him into probably the best goalkeeper on the planet.
Yesterday, De Gea was presented with his first Golden Glove award; for keeping the most clean sheets in the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.
It’s somewhat surprising that this was the first time he’s won the trophy, particularly with such defensive-minded coaches like Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho at the helm.
But, it’s richly deserved – there is absolutely no debating that fact. Following his fourth Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, De Gea’s personal trophy cabinet is probably getting rather full…

The only issue with De Gea is that every summer, he’s always linked with a move to Real Madrid. The best way to solve that problem is to hand him a new big-money deal, and if anyone deserves it then he certainly does. Don’t be surprised to see the club do exactly that before next season starts.
De Gea has one game left this season, and we’ll certainly need him to be at his best against Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
