David de Gea had a well-reported shaky career at Old Trafford when he made the move from Atletico Madrid three years ago, but since then our big Spaniard has gone from strength-to-strength. This month he picked up his first Player of the Month award, and a deserved one at that.
De Gea scooped an impressive 61% of the voting, with Wayne Rooney in second managing 34%, and Phil Jones taking 6%. The 23-year old is also heavy favourite to win the clubs Player of the Year award, having been the only consistently excellent performer within the first-team squad at present.
Upon receiving the award, De Gea said:
“I’ve been happy with my form and I’ve felt very confident, I’ve played a lot of games, learned a lot and gained consistency and stability. I’m pleased with how things are going.”
