After all-but sealing a move for Juan Mata, David Moyes is now on his next scouting mission – This time in Germany. The Scot has tonight attended Bayern Munich’s visit to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. He has attended the game with coach and former player Phil Neville, and we’ll direct the possible targets here.
First up on the list is Patrick Herrmann. The Mönchengladbach #7 is a 22-year old German winger who is highly thought of in his own country. He has represented Germany at every youth level, but is yet to earn a cap for the national side. Herrmann has found the net six times this season.
Next is Granit Xhaka. Another young midfielder, but Xhaka plays in the centre rather than out wide. At just 21-years old the Swiss has played an incredible 78 league games in his career, including 34 for his current club, he also has 22 caps and four goals for Switzerland. He can pass a ball, win a tackle and contribute with the odd goal too. He’d be a good addition to our squad.
Reports also suggest that Toni Kroos could be on Moyes’ wish list, but personally I cannot see that one happening in a million years. He is currently playing for the best side in world football at the moment and he’s right at the heart of it. As a German, why would he leave and ply his trade elsewhere?
Dante is another obvious one. The media have linked the Brazilian centre-back with us quite a lot recently, but again I cannot see him wanting to leave Bayern anytime soon.
I still think we need a central midfielder, and Granit Xhaka would certainly be an excellent addition so hopefully he’s the one Moyes has gone to look at.
