Defensively, Manchester United were given a boost over the summer with the additions of both Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly wants to build from the back. After all, this team conceded way too many goals last term.
Amongst the reasoning behind why goals were shipped at an alarming rate was injuries to several defenders. Amongst those who constantly find themselves on the treatment table is Eric Bailly.
The Ivorian actually hasn’t played in a competitive fixture this term, after suffering serious injury on pre-season tour against Tottenham Hotspur.
Anyway today, the long-term injured United star took to his Instagram stories to hint at a possible return to training…
About a month ago, the latest we heard is that Bailly wouldn’t take to the field until 2020. Either the Ivorian is set to return early, or the centre-back is heading to the AON Training Complex to begin rehabbing before returning right on time.
I actually think Bailly is still the most talented centre-half at United, the problem I have is that he’s too rash when it comes to putting his body on the line – hence why he’s constantly injured.
That won’t change until Bailly starts to become more careful while out on the football field. First and foremost, the 25-year-old needs an injury-free pre-season tour, allowing him to build up confidence and allow his body to get back to 100% before putting it through the stress of a complete season.
