Manchester United kicked off their Premier League campaign with a win, with Jose Mourinho already implementing his influence and dominance on the current squad. The players looked confident, full of ideas and team morale looked to be high. It really couldn’t have gone any better.
In the first half, Bournemouth sat back and United struggled to break them down. However, when that breakthrough was made by Juan Mata capitalising on an error, the lads never looked back.
The second 45 started with Mourinho’s men on the front-foot. They were swiftly rewarded when Wayne Rooney headed home an Anthony Martial miscued effort, but the moment of the match was still to come.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a fairly quiet afternoon until the 64th minute. The #9 picked the ball up over 25 yards out and wasn’t being closed down. He decided to have a go from long range and the ball nestled brilliantly into the bottom corner to get him off the mark.
It was a deserved goal, but perhaps the best part about it was this brilliant image captured afterwards. Ibrahimovic ran straight to the fans to celebrate, and in the background, you can see Jose Mourinho’s passion and happiness as his new signing made an instant impact.
