Manchester United have just two Premier League games left, both of which can be regarded as rather meaningless fixtures as we cannot get into the Premier League top four after a couple of poor results. That may mean the chance for some youngsters to prove their worth, following in Axel Tuanzebe’s footsteps.
This is the first time that the manager has been watching the youth team all season, and what a game he picked. United’s U23s beat Tottenham 3-2 in an entertaining game, with all the goals coming from Josh Harrop who scored a sublime hat-trick.
The midfielder, born in Stockport, has had a terrific season for United’s youth side, and I’ve no doubts that Mourinho would have been extremely pleased with his performance. With two more league games coming up, Harrop may be the next in line to get his chance to earn his spot in the squad.
You’d imagine that the game against Southampton is out of range as that is only 48 hours away, but perhaps a chance in our final league game of the season at home to Crystal Palace is more realistic. Personally, I’d love to see him involved, just to see how he copes in a high-pressure situation against a talented team managed by Sam Allardyce.
