Manchester United’s club record signing Juan Mata has kicked off his Red Devils career in the perfect way from a personal perspective; Winning the Player of the Month award. The 25-year old playmaker earned 55% of the votes for the trophy, ahead of Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic who came second and third respectively.
Despite not finding the back of the net himself, Mata assisted three goals for his teammates. His presence on the pitch seemingly lifted the whole team and he has given the attacking players a new lease of life. If we can manage to bring the right players into Old Trafford over the summer, we’ll be a real force next season.
“It’s amazing for me to be awarded with this prize after my first month. I have played just a few games, five games I think, and I am really grateful the fans have voted for me.” Mata said.
“I feel really happy. Life in Manchester is good, I have already found a house, I have a new home and I am trying to know different places around the city. It is a really nice city to live in. It is quiet, relaxing and you can be focused on what is important – playing football.”
Hopefully this will be the first of many of both personal and team awards throughout his United career.
