Well, folks, after sitting out the whole pre-season it looks as though Romelu Lukaku has finally gotten his wish to leave Manchester United.
Last night, the rumours started to circle that Inter Milan had made a new bid for the 26-year-old, and shortly after that his agent, Federico Pastorello, took to Instagram to upload a shot of himself and Lukaku on their way to Inter; while tagging the Serie A giants directly.
First and foremost I think a move away for Lukaku is in everyone’s best interests, but the way this has gone down has been messy to say the least…
The leaking of club data, the refusal to return to United for training and the constant chatter directly from Lukaku on social media. It’s just a complete lack of disrespect from the United forward.
All us fans ask for is that you wear the badge with pride and give it your all. At times we felt as though Lukaku wasn’t doing that, and to be treated like this as his time at Old Trafford winds down, well it kinda’ hurts.
What will ache most about his departure is the fact that there’s probably not enough time to get a replacement. It’s a big burden for Mason Greenwood to place on his young shoulders, but at least Lukaku is now out of here and we can actually start someone who has a first touch and can hold the ball up?
Ta-ra, Rom. Thanks for that night in Paris but you’ll not be missed all-too-much by me…
