Manchester United’s game against Southampton was highly exciting. The Red Devils eventually came out on top, winning the fixture 3-2.
This team shows a real fighting spirit and ability to bounce back which is a brilliant trait to have. It was on display against Burnley earlier on in the season and the same thing took place in this one.
With our squad decimated by injuries, it was always going to be that much harder, but fair play to the lads who came into the team and stepped up when we needed them most.
For their individual brilliance, two Red Devils have been named in Garth Crooks’ BBC Team of the Week; and it’s extremely fitting and both certainly deserve to be included.
First up, we have Romelu Lukaku. The striker has capitalised on injuries suffered by others by scoring back-to-back braces when United needed him to step up. His two finishes were equally wonderful yet very different. It’s great to see the Belgian back to his goalscoring best!
Then you have Andreas Pereira. It was his wonder strike that brought United back into the game and breathed life into the Old Trafford atmosphere. From that point forward, there was only one winner. The Brazilian also played his part in the Red Devils’ second goal as he set up Lukaku.
Both were deserving of their places in the Team of the Week and it’s nice to see other people included as opposed to the usual suspects like Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford…
