Picture: Man United fans and Jose Mourinho share special moment during Chelsea game

I think it’s fair to say that Jose Mourinho’s time at Manchester United will always leave a sour taste in the mouth. He’s a world-class manager, that cannot be denied, but the situation just wasn’t right.

The self-proclaimed Special One was relieved of his duties last December. Some problems at the club have remained, though several issues have been fixed. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now doing a wonderful job, though the work that Mourinho did will always be remembered.

During yesterday’s game, the Portuguese manager was actually in the Sky Sports studio, and he certainly offered us some interesting insight on proceedings at Old Trafford.

Midway through the second half, the fans spotted their former boss through the glass window in Sky’s studio at the Theatre of Dreams, and in typical Reds fashion, they started to sing out Mourinho’s name. As you can see from the photo below, it was a special moment shared by all:

This is a special club. We’re far more forgiving than most and I think that’s what makes Manchester United the global powerhouse they are.

Letting Mourinho go was the right decision at the time but you cannot take away his brilliance as a coach. No doubt he’ll get himself another job in the not too distant future and prove that to the footballing world once again.
