Manchester United have welcomed Jesse Lingard back to training for the first time in over a fortnight. The English winger picked up a problem in the Community Shield win at Wembley, in a game that Lingard scored a sensational goal to help United lift their first piece of silverware under Mourinho.
Lingard’s emergence out of the academy has been a real highlight of the last twelve months or so. The 23-year-old has scored some mightily important goals, including a stunning effort in the FA Cup final at the end of last season.

This news will certainly give Jose Mourinho a selection dilemma going forward. Juan Mata has played brilliantly since Lingard’s injury, and let’s not forget about Henrikh Mkhitaryan who is patiently waiting for his first start. Despite Jose favouring Jesse, I don’t see him being thrown straight back into the team this weekend at Hull.
Personally, I’d love to see Mkhitaryan get his chance to show us what he can do, because his pace and trickery on the counter could be extremely useful.
