Picture: Manchester United duo named in Team of the Season so far

Manchester United are certainly a side that are improving under the watchful eye of Louis van Gaal.  The Dutchman certainly has his side well regimented in the art of defence, having the best clean sheet record in the league as we rapidly approach the halfway stage.

A couple of players’ performances have been merited with a spot in The Guardian’s Team of the Season so far, and its no surprise who. David de Gea has been named as the goalkeeper despite missing the first few games due to a potential move to Real Madrid eventually collapsing, and Chris Smalling is one of the centre-halves after a fantastic start to the season.

Smalling and De Gea are name in the side amongst the likes of Mesut Ozil, Dimitri Payet, Fernandinho and Riyad Mahrez.
