Yesterday was the annual Ballon D’or ceremony, where the best player in the world was crowned – this time Lionel Messi came out on top. However there was a pleasant surprise at the awards ceremony, as David de Gea was named in the Reserve FIFPro XI of the Year.
The Spaniard was named in the team alongside some of the best players in the world, including the likes of Luis Suarez, Eden Hazard and Yaya Toure, and its great to see the 25-year old getting the recognition he undoubtedly deserves.
It shows just how far he has come during his time at Manchester United. When www first signed him he was making an error a game, and now he is without doubt the best goalkeeper in England by a country mile. We’ll do extremely well to keep hold of him beyond the summer, though.
