Picture: Manchester United’s 16-year-old wonderkid training with first-team ahead of Palace game

Manchester United’s last game of the Premier League is a dead rubber. The Red Devils host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, and ahead of that game, Jose Mourinho has been putting his players through their paces for one final time – and it included a rather talented youngster…

The man pictured below is Angel Gomes, the 16-year-old who last night, became the youngest winner of Manchester United’s Jimmy Murphy Award (handed to the best-performing U18 player).

This is a great show of faith in him from Jose Mourinho, and the fact that he gets to work alongside the first-team squad, including players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Juan Mata and Paul Pogba must be wonderful for his development.

Obviously, this is a player who big things are expected of from going forward, and this last 24 hours must have been an absolute whirlwind of emotions for him. For Mourinho to put this amount of trust in him tells you absolutely all you need to know about the potential player he could be.

I guess that it’s probably a big ask for us to see him take to the field against Palace at the weekend, but hopefully, we may see him included in the pre-season tour over the summer.
