Manchester United Football Club have been playing some lovely football recently, with Bruno Fernandes’ Old Trafford arrival undoubtedly a big factor.
However, our Portuguese Magnifico cannot do it all on his own. In fact, the whole midfield has stepped it up a notch since the turn of the year – including Nemanja Matic.
I’ll be the first to admit that I thought Matic was past his best heading into the 2019/20 term, though recently, he’s proven us all wrong.
Well, he played an absolute blinder against Sheffield United just under a week ago, with the fans super-pleased at his display.
That fixture just so happened to be his 200th Premier League appearance – obviously for both United and previously Chelsea. For that, the Reds star has been awarded a commemoration medal from the Premier League, as they recognise his great achievement. Thanks to Reddit for the image:
Matic brings experience, a solidity, a desire to win. He’s the perfect complement to a midfield containing both Fernandes and Paul Pogba, and it’s no surprise to see him flourishing.
Sure, at his age (31), minutes have to be managed, which is why the emergence of Scott McTominay is also massively important.
It’s just nice that Matic is getting credit for reaching 200 Premier League appearances, which is no easy feat whatsoever.
