In the dying embers of Manchester United’s game against Chelsea, the Red Devils were defending diligently, trying to hang on to a slender 2-1 lead.
Jose Mourinho’s men managed to do so, securing a huge three points that saw United move back to second place in the Premier League table.
However, during a rather funny moment on the field, when Eric Bailly handed Nemanja Matic a note from Mr. Mourinho, Willian tried to sneakily get a look at what was written on the paper. That left us all intrigued, and now the midfield enforcer has taken to Instagram to show us all what it said.
As you can see, the Serbia international has now been given a few days off, and rightfully so. It was an absolute defensive-midfield masterclass from him in the second-half as he kept Chelsea at bay; almost single-handedly at times.
This is the kind of stuff that you love to see as a fan. At times, you forget that footballers are humans after all, and this little message would have spurred Matic on to protect the three points and earn himself three days holiday.
Heck, he deserves it after all. Although it will certainly do him good as he’s looked rather exhausted since the turn of the year. I’m glad he saved his best display for our most important match, though.
