With all the hype surrounding Romelu Lukaku at the minute, everyone seems to be forgetting that today is also another new signing’s first Manchester United training session. That man? Victor Lindelof, who we acquired from SL Benfica last month.
It also looks as though his shirt number could well have been revealed if the photo below is anything to go by. If you look closely, the ‘Iceman’ is donning the #2 jersey which had previously been free for quite a while.
Have a look at the photo here:
There is something about Lindelof taking the #2 jersey that really irks me. Usually, it’s a full-backs number (a la Neville etc), but that’s just one of my bugbears and I guess it doesn’t actually mean all that much.
The 22-year-old is going to be an underrated piece of business for the Red Devils, much like Eric Bailly was last year. He’s a man who doesn’t shirk a tackle, reads the game brilliantly and is a big, physical presence.
Alongside the aforementioned Bailly, the pair could form a formidable partnership going forward, and time is definitely on their side. Who knows, we could be watching the duo play at the highest level for the next decade.
