Manchester United Football Club have, quite frankly, an embarrassment of talent at their disposal in all positions on the field. On top of that, the clubs’ ability to bring through youngsters has always been well documented, and one of our talented stars has all-but confirmed he’s moving back to Manchester United.
Joel Pereira, a talented Portuguese goalkeeper had been on loan at Belenenses in Portugal’s top division, but Sport Witness say that the 20-year-old has been brought back to Old Trafford at the request of Jose Mourinho.
The same website quote Pereira thanking everyone at Belenenses for helping him during his time on loan there, but now he knows he has to come back to Manchester United and work hard.
“I’d like to thank everyone at Belenenses who helped me to develop my game and become a better player,” said Pereira, quoted by the football website, Sport Witness.
“From the president to the coaches, all my teammates, I really appreciate the opportunity that was given to me. It was a great experience to be able to play for such a traditional club from the Portuguese league and be capable of helping the team to get good results.”
“As I’m a Manchester United player, I need to do what my club asks and I’m anxious to return to Manchester and keep working hard with my teammates.”
Now the real question is whether Pereira will get his chance to play in-between the sticks for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. It’s quite obvious that David de Gea is first-choice, and when fit he’ll always start in those big games.
Jose Mourinho seems to also have faith in De Gea’s back-up, Sergio Romero. At this point in time, you’d say Pereira would be third choice at best – but that’s only if Sam Johnstone does leave Manchester United on loan as the Daily Mail say that will happen.
