David de Gea – The Spaniard made a couple of truly outstanding saves early on. Couldn’t do anything about either goal, though. 6/10
Axel Tuanzebe – Comfortably the best player on the field in a Red shirt. He had Sanchez in his pocket throughout an excellent debut. 8/10
Chris Smalling – Good to have him back, but he wasn’t great today. As per usual, his positioning came into question. 4/10
Phil Jones – See Chris Smalling. 4/10
Matteo Darmian – Absolutely lost his man for Welbeck’s goal. That proved fatal. 3/10
Michael Carrick – Pretty average. Played some nice passes forward, but defensively, he was a bystander. 5/10
Ander Herrera – Lively as per usual. If I’m being picky, I’d have liked him to take one square in the face rather than ducking, as it may have prevented the opener. 5/10
Juan Mata – Great to have him back but he looked way off the pace. 5/10
Wayne Rooney – His legs have gone, he makes the wrong decisions and he just doesn’t look hat good anymore. 3/10
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – His form is worrying. There has been far too many times when Micky has just gone missing, and that was noticeable again today. 4/10
Anthony Martial – Looked a threat for the first fifteen minutes or so, but slowly faded out of the game as he became more detached from his teammates. 5/10
Jesse Lingard – Made some intelligent runs.
Marcus Rashford – Didn’t really have time to get into the match.
Scott McTominay – Congratulations on your debut, young man!
