Manchester United stuck three past Dean Smith’s men to pile the pressure on the top four. Now let’s get right into a Man United ratings vs Villa…
David de Gea – I doubt he’ll ever have a quiet game. Untested throughout and barely had a kick. 6/10
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Made some good tackles on Grealish defensively. However, missed a great chance to score his first goal for the Red Devils with a pretty poor header. 6/10
Victor Lindelof – Did well. Made some good runs forward when the play was feeling a little slow, too. 7/10
Harry Maguire – Largely untested. Mopped up nicely and won a few headers. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Excellent. Offered himself as an outlet throughout. Positionally solid and won tackles. I guess the only criticism I can have is his final ball into the box. 7/10
Nemanja Matic – Started pretty slowly and gave away far too many fouls. Subbed on the hour-mark. Maybe he had a few too many beers after signing his new contract…? 4/10
Paul Pogba – Was pinging passes all over the show, made some powerful runs forward and was a constant threat. Scored a pearler to wrap up the three points. Man of the Match. 9/10
Bruno Fernandes – Possibly his quietest game in United colours. Still managed to pick up one goal and one assist, though. 6/10
Mason Greenwood – The starboy continues to shine brightest. Scored a thunderbolt to make it two and his on-ball skill was superb. 8/10
Marcus Rashford – Played a few good passes forward, but things just weren’t really happening for him today. 5/10
Anthony Martial – Sulked when subbed off but his work for the Greenwood goal was wonderful. Probably should’ve scored midway through the second-half but he could only rattle the bar. 6/10
Brandon Williams – Made a couple of key blocks.
Scott McTominay – Kept things ticking over.
Fred – Sloppy.
Daniel James – Made a couple of nice runs forward.
Odion Ighalo – Not really involved in the game.
