Player Ratings: Atrocious Blind & Darmian as Man United lose to Basel

Sergio Romero – The Argentine did alright when called upon. Couldn’t do anything about Basel’s winner, though. 6/10

Matteo Darmian – Disastrous. Why he’s still playing as a full-back for Manchester United I’ll never know. 3/10

Chris Smalling – Not too bad. Won some headers and made some crucial tackles. 6/10

Marcos Rojo – Put in a solid performance considering he hasn’t played in seven months. 6/10

Daley Blind – He’s just so slow and can’t cover the ground necessary to be a competent full-back. 3/10

Ander Herrera – His usual lively self, but he didn’t create an awful lot. 5/10

Marouane Fellaini – Had a couple of opportunities to score with his head, but that’s about it. 5/10

Paul Pogba – By far and away our best player. The game swung in Basel’s favour when he was subbed off after an hour. 7/10

Jesse Lingard – Does an awful lot of running, but the end product is never up to standard. 4/10

Anthony Martial – Started brightly. However, he lacked the cutting edge to hit the back of the net. 5/10

Romelu Lukaku – Had an excellent opportunity early doors to score. Was quiet after that. 5/10

Subs:

Marcus Rashford – Didn’t really get into the game.

Nemanja Matic – Won a few tackles.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – Shown a couple of nice touches.
