Player Ratings: CSKA Moscow 1-1 Manchester United

David de Gea – Made a great penalty save early on, but his defenders didn’t help him out at all. Fairly quiet putting that aside. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Didn’t do too badly, and put in a few decent crosses, including the one that Martial go on the end on to score. 7/10

Chris Smalling – As solid as usual. Led the back line well after a shaky start. 6/10

Phil Jones – Perhaps could have done more to stop CSKA Moscow’s opener. 5/10

Marcos Rojo – Struggled from the off. Wasn’t helped out by Anthony Martial. Rightfully subbed on the hour mark. 3/10

Morgan Schneiderlin – Stayed under the radar which is perfect for his job description. Mopped up well. 6/10

Bastian Schweinsteiger – Bossed the midfield and kept things ticking over nicely. 6/10

Jesse Lingard – Can be pleased with his debut. Full of energy, pace and tracked back when needed. 6/10

Ander Herrera – Looked menacing at times, but could have done more on the ball. 6/10

Anthony Martial – Gave away a sloppy penalty early on, and struggled as was doubled up on throughout. Made up for it with a fantastic header though. 6/10

Wayne Rooney – Did some things well, but you expect more from the captain. 5/10

Subs:

Marouane Fellaini – Held the ball up nicely.

Daley Blind – Did well at left-back, once again showing his versatility.

Memphis Depay – Not enough time to mark.
