Player Ratings: Efficient Man United beat Newcastle 2-0, Rashford rampant again

David de Gea – A comfortable evening really. Made a couple of smart saves, but that’s about it. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Pretty good defensively, but offers nothing in attack. Looks a shadow of his former self when United are going forward. 4/10

Phil Jones – Made a brilliant last-ditch tackle after his own mistake, which pretty much sums up an average evening for the Englishman. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – Going from strength-to-strength under Solskjaer. He was cool, calm and composed, and even got forward a few times too. 7/10

Luke Shaw – Was out of position at times, and his final ball was lacking when going forward. 5/10

Nemanja Matic – Not bad on the whole. 5/10

Ander Herrera – Busy, played some nice passes and kept United on the front-foot. Probably our best midfielder on the night. 7/10

Paul Pogba – Solid. Although he lacked that cutting edge. Was on the wrong end of a nasty challenge from Jonjo Shelvey. 6/10

Juan Mata – Fairly quiet. I often feel that he doesn’t have the pace to play in these tricky away fixtures. 5/10

Anthony Martial – Started brightly and made some nice runs. Faded as the match went on. Rightly subbed. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – Energetic throughout, made some superb runs and finally got his reward with a fantastically taken, well-worked team goal. 8/10

Romelu Lukaku – Scored with practically his first touch. Held the ball up well.

Alexis Sanchez – Picked up an assist. Looked threatening.

Jesse Lingard – Not enough time to mark.
