United overcame a tough challenge from London side Fulham on Saturday, and the only goal of the match came from a piece of brilliance from the in-form Wayne Rooney, who now has five goals in his last five outings. He has hit form just at the right time, with Van Persie being relatively quiet in recent weeks.
The first half was an open affair with both sides playing some good football, and somehow it ended 0-0. After the break the sides became much tighter and it looked as if it could end up a 0-0 draw until Wayne Rooney popped up.
With Liverpool holding City to a 2-2 draw, we have now established a nine point cushion at the top of the Premier League.
De Gea – One of his best games this season, he looked decisive, strong and brave. Made a great save to stop Ruiz from scoring. 8/10
Rafael – Excellent as always, did great defensively and bombed forward at the right time. 7/10
Jonny Evans – He was superb. Made some important clearances and won some vital headers. 7/10
Rio Ferdinand – Rio looked great, he made some great challenges and formed a nice partnership with Evans. 7/10
Patrice Evra – Offered himself as an outlet constantly down the left wing, him and Nani worked well together. 6/10
Antonio Valencia – Another quiet game, his bad form doesn’t look like ending soon. 5/10
Michael Carrick – He is the key to our midfield, he dictates the play and and tempo, as well as playing some nice passes. 7/10
Tom Cleverley – Looked lively until he was substituted, didn’t really do much though. 6/10
Nani – Played well, his final ball often let him down though. 6/10
Wayne Rooney – Had a stormer. Rooney was absolutely everywhere, he took his goal excellently. 9/10
Robin van Persie – Another quiet one from Robin, had the chance to score which you’d expect him to put away. 6/10
Javier Hernandez – Looked lively, had the chance to put the game to bed but couldn’t finish it off. 6/10
Ryan Giggs – Didn’t really affect the game when he came on. 6/10
Danny Welbeck – Not enough time to mark.
