Player Ratings: Man City 1-2 Manchester United (Premier League, 2019)

David de Gea – Made a couple of smart saves to ensure that United took all three points home. I’d like to see him dominate his penalty area more, though. 6/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Absolutely outstanding. Made a quality player like Raheem Sterling look very ordinary. This boy is a tackling machine. Man of the Match. 8/10

Victor Lindelof – Certainly one of his better United outings. Was solid for the most part aside from one mistake in the second half. Made a huge block to deny Kevin de Bruyne. 7/10

Harry Maguire – Cleared his lines when needed and kept a cool head. Still, I’d like to see him go one-on-one Otamendi and not allow him a free header. 6/10

Luke Shaw – I was worried when I saw his name on the team sheet, but he did a super job. Kept things tight and frustrated Bernardo Silva. A nice performance. 7/10

Scott McTominay – He’s an absolute monster. Puts his body on the line, gives his all for the cause and is excellent with the ball at his feet. Sublime. 8/10

Fred – Stunning. Pulled the strings from midfield and worked hard on the defensive side of things. He’s certainly improving. 7/10

Jesse Lingard – Linked up the play supremely well. Ran the channels and made some super darts into the box. Had a couple of chances to kill the game. 7/10

Daniel James – Ran City ragged due to his electric pace. Played some killer balls into the box and put a shift in defensively. 7/10

Marcus Rashford – Getting better and better. Took his penalty well and made some intelligent runs. Gave City nightmares. 8/10

Anthony Martial – Scored an excellent goal to give United a 2-0 lead. Led the line very well. 7/10

Subs:

Andreas Pereira – Worked hard to preserve United’s lead.

Ashley Young – Not enough time to mark.

Axel Tuanzebe – Not enough time to mark.
