Player Ratings: Man United 1-2 Crystal Palace (Premier League 2019)

David de Gea – Dropped a clanger for Palace’s late-winner. You fear this will hit his confidence severely… 3/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – His poorest game in a United shirt. He looked scared to get forward at times, and defensively he struggled with Zaha. 4/10

Harry Maguire – Won some headers and tried to get us moving forward. However, he was nowhere to be seen when Lindelof lost a header and Ayew ran straight through. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – Shouldn’t have lost the header and he looked to be a little nervy. 4/10

Luke Shaw – Went off injured. Hopefully, it’s not anything too serious as I thought he was having a good game up until then… 5/10

Scott McTominay – Not his finest outing. His passing was sloppy and often short, although he did make an excellent bursting run forward to win the spot-kick. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Tried to create but the movement around him was non-existent. He lost possession carelessly which led to the Palace winner. 4/10

Jesse Lingard – His movement looked threatening in the first 45, but the final ball and cutting edge wasn’t there. He has to be dropped, surely? 3/10

Daniel James – Hit and miss which is what you’d expect from a youngster. His goal was absolutely sublime, though. He’s getting a reputation for ‘diving’ though both yellow cards he received were blatant fouls. 6/10

Marcus Rashford – Poor. Made the wrong decisions far too often and his penalty miss was just awful. 3/10

Anthony Martial – Showed glimpses of his ability but he just wasn’t in the game anywhere near enough for my liking. 4/10

Subs:

Ashley Young – I didn’t actually think he was *too* bad defensively…

Mason Greenwood – Big things are expected of this young man – but he just couldn’t get into the game.

Juan Mata – Played an awful first-time ball out wide that went into Row-Z. It summed up his cameo.
