Player Ratings: Man United comfortably beat Chelsea 2-0, Pogba phenomenal

Sergio Romero – A more than capable back-up goalkeeper, who made some good saves to preserve his clean sheet. 6/10

Ashley Young – Started nervously but got better as the match progressed. He made some crucial tackles to keep Eden Hazard at bay. 7/10

Chris Smalling – Controlled the back line well, made some important clearances and blocks. 6/10

Victor Lindelof – Improving all the time. He threw his body in front of everything and won some important headers. Brilliant. 7/10

Luke Shaw – I have question marks about his positioning at times, but tonight he was wonderful. He absolutely worked his socks off for the cause and that last-ditch tackle he made to deny Pedro was superb. 7/10

Nemanja Matic – Trod a fine line after some bad challenges, but after he calmed down, the Serbian proved that he’s still a huge player for United. 6/10

Ander Herrera – My Man of the Match. He was a vocal leader, scored a brilliant header, led by example and ran himself into the ground. Outstanding. 9/10

Paul Pogba – Drifted in and out of the game but was excellent in the big moments. Played a world-class ball into the box for the opener, and headed powerfully home to put the result beyond doubt. Sensational. 9/10

Juan Mata – Played a vital role. He was the link between midfield and attack, and although he didn’t score he was great. 7/10

Romelu Lukaku – A mixed bag. Worked hard, tried to press from the front, but couldn’t get himself into goalscoring positions. 5/10

Marcus Rashford – His cross into Pogba was inch-perfect. He ran down every loose ball and won his fair share. Terrorised Marcos Alonso. 7/10

Subs:

Alexis Sanchez – Worked hard.

Andreas Pereira – Was lively throughout.

Scott McTominay – Not enough time to mark.
