David de Gea – Could have done better for the Southampton opener as he got two strong hands to the ball. 4/10
Ashley Young – Struggled to pick the right pass. So often he’d opt for playing it blind down the line and that got frustrating. 4/10
Chris Smalling – Perhaps lucky to not give away a penalty. That aside, he was pretty good. 5/10
Victor Lindelof – The Ice Man is getting better every week. He won so many key headers and put in some brilliant tackles. 6/10
Luke Shaw – Worked hard against his former team. Was positionally solid and did a great job on Southampton’s speedy wide-men. 6/10
Scott McTominay – Not the most gifted player, but United don’t need him to be that. He won back possession, threw his weight around and passed it on to the better passers. 6/10
Paul Pogba – Had to sit deeper and you can tell he doesn’t enjoy that as much, but he took one for the team and put in a real shift. 6/10
Andreas Pereira – Scored an absolute worldie to drag United back into the game. Also played a part in our second. His best display in a while. 7/10
Alexis Sanchez – Struggled to get into the game. Eventually left the field with what looked like a serious injury. 4/10
Marcus Rashford – Used his pace to try and stretch the game, but things weren’t really coming off for him. 5/10
Romelu Lukaku – Scored two outrageously good goals to ensure United won all three points. 8/10
Diogo Dalot – Changed the game with his passion, energy and willingness to move forward. He was outstanding.
Fred – Came on for Pereira. He set up Lukaku’s winner.
Tahith Chong – Nice to see another youth product make his Premier League debut.
