Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Celta Vigo – Marouane the match winner

Sergio Romero – Once again he did what was asked of him. Made some great saves and commanded his area well. 6/10

Antonio Valencia – Pretty average by his usual high standards. He can probably count himself lucky as he could have saw red late on. 4/10

Eric Bailly – He was an absolute monster until he got sent off for a daft slap on John Guidetti. Something must have been said as he’s usually so cool. 6/10

Daley Blind – Poor. He just looked way off the pace throughout and he made some rash decisions. 3/10

Matteo Darmian – Not great. Struggled with overlapping runs of the Celta full-backs and got sucked out of position far too often. 4/10

Marouane Fellaini – United’s best player, and eventual match winner. He defended well and scored the all-important goal. 7/10

Ander Herrera – Pretty good as per usual. He was his energetic self through. He actually had the ball in the back of the net in the dying embers, but it was ruled out for a foul earlier on. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Controlled the game in the first half with his excellent passing and composure. Soaked the pressure up well. 6/10

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – Showed some nice bits of skill at times but the final ball was lacking more often than not. 6/10

Jesse Lingard – Pretty quiet throughout. The Englishman never really looked threatening. 4/10

Marcus Rashford – Looked sharp in the first 45, although the second half was much tougher as Celta pressed for a leveller. 5/10

Subs:

Wayne Rooney – Brought a calmness to the field and won a couple of key free-kicks.

Chris Smalling – Came on and defended well to ensure the victory.
